The Cry Of The Hawk!!

I had a moment yesterday that I will remember for a long time. As I was photographing the multiple  military graves (lined up as if still marching in their hundreds) I heard the distinctive cry of a predator. I looked up to see a large hawk swooping down over the graves quite low. An amazing frightening call he makes, flying so near seconds later. Sort of took my breath away. A truly beautiful sight. And this all happened in Calgary, imagine the wonders awaiting in more isolated parts of Canada!

Organizing AMBROTOS KANATA Plates

Trying to figure a way to title and safety store the better AMBROTOS KANATA ambrotype plates. Came up with this for the 8x10 glass. I expect to eventually have 1000 ambrotypes of varying sizes from across Canada, I will need some order! I tend to be pretty terrible when it comes to organizing my photos, trying to improve.

- titled bubble envelope.
- inner plastic sleeve.
- black background glass stored separately

Not sure how I will do the bigger plates.

Note* Will also add the GPS numbers to the black envelope. Each image will have a pretty exact recorded location inside Canada.

Early in the day St. Paul's 8x10 Clear Glass Ambrotypes. Later when the heat started up (35.5C) everything sort of fell apart. The heat melted me and the collodion!

Mark Of The Dragon In Silver Nitrate!

Keep getting silver nitrate on myself, even thou I try not to. Got it on my chin later on in the week but here at the beginning managed to get a dragon/bunny shaped splash on my left hand even thou I was wearing nitrile gloves.

Triptych Attempt

Will try an 8x10 clear Glass triptych (3 photos side by side telling a combined story) of this scene tomorrow. My fist ever. If this works later will move up to larger cameras it might be boiling hot in the trailer tomorrow which screws with wet plate.
